Gee I cannot think of many but one that springs to mind was the Kevin Bacon film "Murder in the First", based on a true story of events that eventually led to the closure of Alcatraz.
What that prisoner endured made me quite sick.
If you'd like to have a look here is the IMDb link:
www.imdb.com/title/tt0113870/
These may fall more into the horror realm but there was definite mental and physical torture:
"Saw" (2004)
www.imdb.com/title/tt0387564/
"Saw II" (2005)
www.imdb.com/title/tt0432348/
"Saw III" (2006)
www.imdb.com/title/tt0489270/
Hostel (2005)
www.imdb.com/title/tt0450278/
"Cell Zero" ia a movie about the Greek Military Police torture chambers.
And though I haven't seen it, does "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" include torture?
I think there are war films too that include scenes of torture but cannot bring any to mind.

What are some of the torture scenes in Saw? I really want to watch it but I'm afraid I won't sleep for weeks plz help! |
You should watch them all. They're great! They aren't scary, more gory, and you have to actually think because there are a lot of explaining parts, especially with the last movie where you had to think back and connect the dots, even though they already showed you. But still. If you watch Saw 3 and then go back to 1, it won't make as much sense.
Some scenes I can remember:
Where they are in a room and one foot is chained to the wall. They must saw it off or stay in the room forever.
Another is a man in a box full of water, and he has to slit his throat to let the water out so he can breath.
Another is a man tie up like Jesus and with his arms and legs in devices that twist it. Even his head.
Another one, which is the easiest of all, is when Amanda is wearing a head gear that needs a key to unlock it before it blows her brains out. All she has to do is dig it out somebody else's eye and that's it. That's the most stupidest one and the stupidest way that Amanda became apart of the "group."
Another one is where 6 are sitting on a roundabout and they must shout out at the man why they think he should save them. He saves people who claim to be pregnant and all, while the other 4 are shot in the head.
There's so many throughout the movies that I am just shouting out random ones I remember.
So yeah, way more gory than scary. |
Is the horror movie the Dentist accurate in the torture scenes? Is it true also that most dentists crack up like that more than any other profession? (PS I used to have a dentist that looked exactly like Corbin Bernsen lol) |
| not at all. Dentist are very serious because they know most patients are scared to death to be there. |
I have a friend who gets excited with torture scenes she repeatedly watches them? especially if it is a favorite character in a movie or a series .so does that make her psychologically ill? she tells me that she sometimes even imagines being tortured so does she need to go to a shrink or something????????? |
| She seems to be perfectly normal |
Why do people get pleasure out of seeing torture or graphic scenes of dead people? i know someone who said he likes to watch graphic scenes of deaths and torture like the movie "SAW" or "HOSTLE" but only its real. i dont understand why someone could get enjoyment out of watching other humans or even animals being tortured. whats your opinion? should these people see psychological help? |
| It's what they would call "morbid curriosity". People sometimes can't help but turn there heads to look at something or someone that's had something horrible happen to them..... |
In movie torture scenes, why do they punch and kick and use electricity etc? Why don't they go straight to the? BALLS.
I mean most men would confess quicker if they do that
If they tortured your balls, would you tell your country's secrets??? |
| Yup, too right i would ! |
Can anybody suggest any "long scenes of torture" movies? I just got done watching Hostel while eating, didn't do anything for me. The torture was too short, they keep cutting off the good parts. |
The Ludovico Technique sequence in A Clockwork Orange is probably one of the most interesting of them all. The clamps on the eyes, the eyedrops to keep the eyeballs moist while having to watch German Nazi prison camp movies. Malcolm McDowell almost had permanent blindness because of that, because one of the clamps failed. When he screams in pain in the movie, it's for real. He really was in serious pain at that time.
In the same movie, he is held under the water for what is well over one minute. He says there was a breathing apparatus hidden under the water, so he could stay down so long. Also, during this time, Alex is being beaten by two of his former friends who are now policemen in a scene where every time he is hit, there is an electronic musical sting that emphasizes it. These two scenes happen within 15 minutes of each other in the movie. |
Does the movie "You Don't Mess With the Zohan" have any torture scenes? My wife and I want to see the movie, but she hates torture scenes. I was wondering if the movie has torture scenes in it or is it safe for her to go? |

Torture Scenes in Novels? Trying to locate some novels that feature torture. I need it for a paper I am writing. I have plenty of sources for movies and television but am having a harder time finding it in fiction. I have found the one in Casino Royale, and bits and pieces of scenes spread out in other James Bond novels, but that's pretty much it. If you can help me out, it will be much appreciated. |
The torture of the Duchess in John Webster's 'The Duchess of Malfi' (featuring wax models of her guyren made to look like they have been murdered).
'The Feast of the Goat' by Mario Vargas Llosa features horrific scenes of torture at the hands of the Dominican Republic's SIM (Military Intelligence Service) under the dictator Rafael Trujillo.
'Ways of Dying' by Zakes Mda is set in the new South Africa, in the transition from apartheid to democracy. There is a lot of violence by soldiers, police and locals, including a scene in which guyren are made to stand with burning tyres around their necks. |
